Kava & Yin Ceremony
Join us for an intimate candle-lit Kava kava ceremony followed by a deeply meditative yin practice.
Kava Kava is an herbal remedy that's made from the roots of Piper methysticum a type of plant found in the islands of the Pacific Ocean. People who live on Pacific islands like Fiji and Tonga have used it for hundreds of years in social gatherings and traditional medicine. They dry out the roots or crush them into a powder. Then they add water and drink the mixture. During the ceremony, we humbly ask for help to feel more safety, openness, and presence during our practice physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually.
In Yin Yoga, we hold postures for longer (about 3 to five minutes on average) while focusing on staying relaxed and present with the sensations in our bodies. Yin is also a beautiful way to work through blockages in the prana/qi/subtle energy lines of our bodies. We utilize both taoist and yogic meditation practices to accomplish this as well as the powerful medicine of Kava kava.
We then seal our practice with a Loving-Kindness meditation and brief Yoga Nidra.
